Courtyards at Southpoint
April 2025 Homeowner Liaison Report
Farewell from Our Representative
By Mark Witcher
William Douglas Property Management has confirmed 98% of homes in our neighborhood have closed. That is the threshold for leadership transition on the homeowners association board. Like everyone, I am looking forward to the construction being complete and Courtyards at Southpoint becoming a self-governing neighborhood. Since I am not running for the elected HOA board, my tenure on the Epcon HOA board will be finishing up, and this is my last HOA liaison report for the newsletter.
I have enjoyed working with Rebekah Burchard, our Epcon liaison, as well as a wonderful group of volunteers on all the various committees to get Courtyards at Southpoint to the much-awaited and very long-in-coming transition point. The number of people I want to thank is too long to mention individually. Most of them actively participate with the newsletter or are named in the newsletter’s articles.
I don’t have a lot to add to all the other newsletter items I have written over the last two years, especially my last few articles. The primary task of an HOA board is to defend the declaration and bylaws (D&Bs) to preserve their viability as uniform governing documents that protect the community and all the residents. HOA actions and decisions are not personal, just a best effort not to abandon any parts of the D&Bs leaving the HOA vulnerable to more extreme violations. Please give the newly elected board your support as they continue to support all the homeowners.
The most important points are to follow the rules and bylaws of the HOA or to volunteer and participate on the HOA board or one of the committees that interests you. I look forward to seeing everyone at the HOA’s many events and encourage everyone to find and participate in the many active clubs and activities.
